{"id":407,"date":"2022-02-04T16:54:39","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T15:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pgtb.fr\/?page_id=407"},"modified":"2026-05-19T14:07:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T12:07:52","slug":"la-metagenomique-globale","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pgtb.fr\/en\/la-metagenomique-globale\/","title":{"rendered":"Metagenomic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Whole-genome or shotgun metagenomics involves sequencing all the DNA in a sample to reconstruct the composition of the communities present and determine the functions performed by these communities (i.e. who is there and what are they doing \u2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Similarly, metatranscriptomics involves studying the totality of RNAs produced by the transcription of the genomes of all organisms within a given environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whole-genome metagenomics and metatranscriptomics are available as short-read sequencing on the Illumina NextSeq 2000 sequencer and as long-read sequencing on the Oxford Nanopore Technologies P2 Solo sequencer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:30px\">Requirements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">A minimum of 1 \u00b5g of high-molecular-weight DNA (as determined by fluorescence) is required for whole-genome metagenomics on an Illumina sequencer, and a minimum of 2 \u00b5g for whole-genome metagenomics on an Oxford Nanopore sequencer.
